The Hunger Games is a fictional movie which is based on the novel written by Suzanne Collins. It is directed by Gary Ross. The movie is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2012 . It is about a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to replace her sister, Primrose Everdeen, from the claws of death. 

The Hunger Games is an annual event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl (selected by lottery) from ages 12 to 18 from each of the 12 districts. They will be competing for a televised battle in which only one can survive.Together with Peeta Mellark, Katniss fight the other 22 tributes for their survival and their district’s future.
